As I stated in a Guest Column in the Set/Oct 1999 issue of the Journal of Clinical Engineering, https://journals.lww.com/jcejournal/Citation/1999/09000/What_Is_the_Purpose_of_Clinical_Engineering.4.aspxcertification is not only a way to distinguish oneself from others in the profession but “a highly useful tool to unite and advance the profession… Clinical engineers who have a long-range career plan in this field should … assume the responsibility of propagating certification as a means to advance the profession and assure their own survival.”​
