If you are a healthcare Administrator who makes purchasing decisions, a Clinical Engineer, an IT Systems Analyst, or a Medical Technology Evaluator you need to read this handbook! This handbook describes how you can use IHE PCD profiles to improve how the integration capabilities of your systems are selected, specified, purchased and deployed.
The Patient Care Device User Handbook 2010 edition has been released for public comment. The PCD domain invites you to review and provide comments back by February 12th, 2010. You can find the public comment version at http://www.ihe.net/Resources/handbook.cfm. Please submit your comments at http://forums.rsna.org/forumdisplay.php?f=498 prior to February 12th, 2010.
The Patient Care Device domain (PCD) of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) promotes device related interoperable communications based upon existing standards. This voluntary effort by users and vendors addresses systems where one end of the communication is a regulated medical device. The PCD domain is sponsored by ACCE and HIMSS.
You can see demonstrations of PCD technical developments in the Interoperability Showcase at the upcoming HIMSS10 meeting in Atlanta.
To learn more go to www.ihe.net/pcd and http://wiki.ihe.net/index.php?title=Patient_Care_Device; to join the effort contact pcd@accenet.org.
